Art Juried Online International Art Exhibition, 2010 (Special Recognition) Juror's Statement: Dan Hittleman of Melville, New York, presents a wonderful
photograph, “Li River Raft”, wherein he shows the drama of scale and shadow. And in his work “Two Worlds”,
we see the drama of tonal effects together with the radiating pattern of lines that are integrated with a circular arrangement
of fish. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ artKudos, www.artkudos.com, "International Art Competition and Exhibition," 2009 Caladan Gallery, Cambridge,

with his yellow green photograph entitled “Lake Kumming”. And with a focused richness to detail he shows a close
up of two large stones in water called “Water Grass and Rocks”. Upstream People

With the concept of contrast, his piece entitled “Tide is Out” shows a boat on mostly dry land. The cool surrounding
and the warm colored boat add to the idea.

Juror's statement: Dan Hittleman of Melville, New
York has a photographer's eye for the special. "Furore Fiord" is a wonderful triangularly framed scene that
achieves great depth. This particular photograph is rather curious in that the boats are dispersed on land and not on water. Juror's Statement: Dan Hittleman of Melville, New York captures the essence of “BIg Sur”
on the California coastline. Another engaging piece is “Point Lobos Tree” showing the strength of a tree having
been formed enduring the rather volatile sea coast weather. Yet another interesting work is “Stonecrop Bridge”
which is a rather unusual formation. “Sunrise at Ditch Plains II” has a nice radial quality with the scene balanced
with dark against light.

Dan Hittleman of Melville, New York also works in the digital realm. In a number of his pieces an ovate structure reappears.
Especially nice is his "Afternoon Shadow" which costars the graceful shadow of a tree with the sheep on the other
side facing in. Another similarly structured piece is his "Morning Light" in which the sun is gently seeping through,
adding a kind of glow which is also shown in his other works as well. Upstream

Statement: Dan Hittleman of Melville, NY gives examples of his expertise in such works as “Flowering Stream”
showing a dramatic contrast of the rushing white waters amidst large boulders with the delicacy of little yellow flowers along
the way. Continuing with a similar theme is his “Rainbow Falls” in which small red flowers hold their own against
the backdrop of a majestic waterfall. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

to me is the classic “Door and Pottery” by Dan Hittleman. A deceptively simple composition, the roof line and
the edge where the wall meets the floor are parallel planes of roughly equal width. The table cloth is an abbreviated parallel
plane approximately the same width. The log beams create a rhythm, moving the eye across the picture plane to the streaks
in the adobe walls, pulling the eye down to the table, where the eye moves to the door frame and back up towards the roof
line again. The color palette is as rich as it is limited, being only black, white and shades of blue and brown. The weathered
building gives enough texture and visual richness to pull the whole together. Upstream People Gallery, www.upstreampeoplegallery.com, “9th Annual International Faces Art Exhibition,” 2006 (Special Recognition)
